Allah and His religion DO NOT honor kafirs – critically refuting a syncretist.

01 Aug

As-Salamu ‘Alaikum

These are terribly difficult times and as the blessed Prophet, sal Allahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, has said, holding on to one’s faith shall be like holding a burning piece of coal in one’s palms.

Islam is attacked from all directions, not just by the battling armies of kafirs, but also by their ideological armies, which includes their own people as well as so called ‘leaders and scholars of Muslims’ who seek duniya at the expense of deen. Truth is presented as falsehood and falsehood is understood to be the default truth.

The world has many people who claim to be Ash’aris and Hanafis and Shafi’iys and Sufis and so on and they claim to be teachers of Islamic disciplines, offering seekers guidance, but in reality such shayateen make themselves known as kafir agnostic syncretists whose sole aim in life is to equate Islam with filthy kufr and honor their kafir brothers and sisters. The following is a contention by one such kafir syncretist agnostic that I have paraphrased in my own words:

“Irrespective of the ruling in verse 9:28 regarding the polytheists being filthy by beliefs, people that adhere to beliefs outside of Islam are still our brothers and sisters in humanity. Being the offspring of Adam and Allah’s vicegerents on earth, all of us humans have been honored by Allah. Islam commands to treat all humans – whether Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, polytheists, atheists, or of any other beliefs – with respect, dignity, and mutual regard.

Verse 17:70 of the Quran says “And We have indeed honored the children of Adam” – this means that Allah has honored all humans, regardless of their different religious beliefs.

The Quran also says in verse 49:13 “O humanity! We have created you all from a male and female, and We have made you into nations and tribes so that you may come to know one another…” Then, we know that our differences in religious beliefs, are only just a launchpad from which we, as brothers and sisters in humanity, can launch dialogue and communication so that we know one another.”

The syncretist contention given above is purely misguided and wrong and a desperate attempt to seek acceptance from the kuffaar at the expense of Allah’s deen.

It is simple for Muslim seekers of guidance to destroy this misguided contention, bit by bit, with the help of Allah. Without further ado:

“Irrespective of the ruling in verse 9:28 regarding the polytheists being filthy by beliefs, people that adhere to beliefs outside of Islam are still our brothers and sisters in humanity. Being the offspring of Adam and Allah’s vicegerents on earth, all of us humans have been honored by Allah.”

The verse 9:28 applies generally to ALL kafirs, as ALL kufr is filthy. Not being filthy would mean it is pure, and ONLY ISLAM is pure. This is what the Quran says:

Translation of meaning: O you who believe, indeed the polytheists are filthy… Holy Quran 9:28

It is terribly sad that the author, even after stating the direct Quranic ruling on the state of the kuffaar, directly opposes the Quran, hadiith, and sayings of mujtahid scholars right after it. He makes little of a ruling in the Quran saying “irrespective of the ruling” – and makes 2 additional points

a – “people that adhere to beliefs outside of Islam are still our brothers and sisters in humanity”

If he refers solely to being biologically related by being descendants of Adam, yes all humanity is one family.

If by that he is saying that Muslims should display kinship and fraternity with kafirs implying that we are all the same and equal, then he should note that, even blood relations don’t mean anything when it comes to Islam and kufr.

Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala directly severed Prophet Nuuh’s, ‘ala nabiyyina wa ‘alaihis salam, relation with Prophet Nuuh’s own son because the son was a kafir:

Translation of meaning: And Nuh called on to his Lord and said: My Lord! Indeed my son is from my family and Your promise is true, and You are the Judge over all Judges. He said: O Nuh! He is indeed NOT from your family as his deeds are not righteous… [Holy Quran 11:45-46]

b – “Being the offspring of Adam and Allah’s vicegerents on earth, all of us humans have been honored by Allah”

Coming to this here bit regarding ‘all’ children of Adam being ‘honored by Allah’ – clearly NOT ‘all’ of our father Adam’s, ‘ala nabiyyina wa ‘alaihis salam, children are honored, or else our Master Rasulullah ﷺ wouldn’t have witnessed our father Adam crying on the night of his blessed Israa and M’iraaj.

Sahiih Muslim (amongst many other collections and/or ahaadiith) while narrating the incident in a long hadiith, reports:

Translation of meaning: [I (the Prophet) saw] a man, on his right were groups, and on his left were groups. When he looked to the right, he laughed, and when he looked to the left, he cried. He then said, “Welcome O Righteous Prophet and O Righteous Son!” I said, “O Jibriil, who is this?” He replied, “This is Adam, ‘alaihis salam, and these groups on his right and left are the souls of his offspring. The ones on the right are of the people of paradise and the one’s on the left are of the people of hellfire. When he looks to the right he laughs and when he looks to the left he cries.” (Long hadiith snipped, Sahiih Muslim)

Quiz Question 1: Based on the above snippet from hadiith, various other ahaadiith, verses of the Quran, and sayings of mujtahid scholars, which of the following is a grant of honor by Allah to His slaves?

a) paradise

b) hellfire

Quiz Question 2: If “all” of Adam’s offspring is ‘honored by Allah’, why was he crying seeing that the souls of one section of his offspring were in hellfire?

More on ‘honor’ to follow through. Coming to the next bit.

“Islam commands to treat all humans – whether Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, polytheists, atheists, or of any other beliefs – with respect, dignity, and mutual regard.”

Muslims are supposed to mind their own business and not supposed to infringe unjustly on anyone’s life or property, yes. That can be given away to ‘mutual regard’ by a stretch.

As for the respect and dignity, where are all the commands for it? They certainly don’t exist in the Quran or hadiith. Where is all this dignity mentioned in the Quran, hadiith and works of mujtahid scholars, that is supposedly assigned to jews, christians, hindus, polytheists, atheists or otherwise?

We are commanded to uphold justice – most certainly! We can even be kind to kafirs but this kindness must be without incorporating respect in it considering the kafir at par to Muslims. Think of yourself handing out a quarter to a homeless person.

‘Respect’ or ‘dignity’, which only imply considering kafirs as at par to our brothers and sisters in Islam – are FORBIDDEN to kafirs.

Coming towards what Islam commands, and the sayings and anecdotes from the sahaba and scholars here’s just one hadiith:

Translation of meaning: Do not initiate the salam with jews and christians, and if you meet them in the street, then force them to take the narrowest path. (Sahiih Muslim)

Questions to the syncretist: What is the ruling, which is general and not restrictive to any time or place or situation, that Sayyidina ‘Umar radzi Allahu ‘anhu derived from this in regards to the ahl al-dhimmah, that ALL the 4 madhhabs of the Ahlus Sunnah have taken? (Hint: Answer lies in the hadiith itself.)

There are plentiful sayings of the beloved Prophet ﷺ that speak against jews and christians alone, the benchmark kafirs. What I mean by them being benchmark kafirs is that all other kafirs like budhhists, hindus, atheists, polytheists etc. are only worse than them. Another example:

The one who is not deterred by a genuine need, or an unjust ruler, or a disabling illness, and he is dying without performing the Hajj, then he may die a jew if he wishes, or if he wishes a christian. (Daarimi)

Quiz Question 3: Does the tone of the hadiith of the blessed Prophet suggest honor or disdain towards jews and christians?

Here’s a verse from the Quran:

Translation of meaning: O you who believe! Do not take the jews and christians as friends; they are friends of each other; and he who bears affinities to them from amongst you, then he is from them; indeed, Allah does not guide a transgressing people. [Holy Quran 5:51]

(Also see this previous post regarding this verse)

“Verse 17:70 of the Quran says “And We have indeed honored the children of Adam” – this means that Allah has honored all humans, regardless of their different religious beliefs.”

Here the syncretist shows his true worth (he’s a jahil) and his true colors (he considers kufr as honorable and equal to Islam). We will handsomely destroy his ‘regardless of their different religious beliefs’ line with the help of Allah.

But firstly, let us see the verse he is talking about.

This is the verse:

Translation of meaning: And indeed, We have graced the children of Adam, and borne them over land and sea, and sustained them with good sustenance and favored them abundantly above many of Our creation. [Holy Quran 17:70]

Another verse along the same lines is:

Translation of meaning: Indeed, We created man in the best of of moulds. [Holy Quran 95:4]

Ahh… but wait, here is what the rest of the surah 95 says after verse 95:4

Translation of meaning: Then we turned him below the lowest of the low. [Holy Quran 95:5]

Scholars offer two interpretations to this: a) After the vibrancy of youth, man turns old, his skin is wrinkled, hair turn grey, back bends, intelligence slips, and he is incapacitated to take care of his basic needs. b) Man doesn’t express thankfulness at his human faculties and gifts, stays obstinate on disobedience and did not embrace Islam, so he is turned towards the lowest pits of hell.

Translation of meaning: Except the people who believe and do righteous deeds, for they have a reward blissful. [Holy Quran 95:6]

Scholars say: Once a believing man reaches old age, even though he is rendered unable to perform many of the worships and strenuous reward-worthy tasks as he could in his youth and strength, he shall be rewarded just as he would have done them in his youth, out of Allah’s Mercy.

So basically, man is created very handsome, and then he is made ugly, except those who are believers.

The surah finishes thus:

Translation of meaning: So now, what would cause you [o kafir] to belie this sacred law? [Holy Quran 95:7]

Translation of meaning: Is Allah not The Judge over all judges? [Holy Quran 95:8]

Here his fraud and misrepresentation is clear. The Quran makes it clear that Allah has gifted mankind with many faculties, gifts, and commands above many other creations BUT if man wastes away all these faculties and gifts, he is indeed lower than animals.

He has distorted the message of the verse he quoted, 17:70, which talks about Allah granting various faculties and gifts to humans and giving them command above other creations – to deliberately give the kafir-pleasing message of “Allah has honored all humans, regardless of their different religious beliefs.” The reasons he has done this are obvious. He considers kufr as something equal to Islam and he considers kafirs as his brothers and sisters and cannot afford to upset them.

Here are some verses showing the kind of ‘honor’ Allah and Islam place on kafirs, something that this syncretist has decided to disregard because he has introduced his own man-made rule of “regardless of their different religious beliefs”:

Translation of meaning: … Verily, Allah is the Enemy of kafirs. [Holy Quran 2:98]

Note: Allah’s ‘enmity’ means that Allah has placed them alienated from His Mercy.

Quiz Question 4:Do you consider your enemies as ‘honorable’?

Translation of meaning: And who ever does not believe in Allah and His Messenger, verily, Allah has prepared for the kafirs a fire. [Holy Quran 48:13]

Quiz Question 5: What does this verse call those who do not believe in Allah AND His Messenger? What is the outcome prepared for those people?

This verse is for the jizyah ruling applied in duniya, that is, Muslims are commanded to implement it:

Translation of meaning: War [against] the people who do not believe in Allah nor the last day, nor hold that as forbidden which has been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, and [those that] take not as their religion the religion of truth (Islam) from those who have been given a book – until they pay the jizya with their hands, and they’re humiliated. [Holy Quran 9:29]

(See also this post regarding jizyah)

Quiz Question 6: According to this verse, what is the purpose of jizyah that is charged to kafir citizens of a Muslim state?

Translation of meaning: O Messenger, wage jihad against the kuffaar and hypocrites and be harsh with them, and their abode is hell, a lowly refuge indeed. [Holy Quran 9:73 & 66:9]

Mind you, the Prophet has the most exalted of character, as evidenced by the Quran – and harshness to kafirs (as stated in the above verses) is commanded as a part of this exalted character

Translation of meaning: And indeed, you are on the most exalted of characters. [Holy Quran 68:4]

Quiz Question 7: According to verses 9:73 and 66:9, the Prophet is instructed by Allah to launch jihad against kafirs and hypocrites and to be harsh to them. Is ‘hypocrite’ an honorable status? Does calling to harshness towards them and mentioning their final abode as hellfire not establish their dishonor in front of Allah?

Translation of meaning: You will not find from the people who believe in Allah and the last day (day of judgment), those who bear affinity towards those who oppose Allah and His Messenger – even if they are their fathers or sons or brothers or clansmen; on their hearts He has written down belief, and He has helped them with a spirit sent by Him, and He shall admit them into paradise, beneath which rivers flow, to abide therein everlastingly; Allah’s Ridza is with them, and they are pleased with Allah; they are the party of Allah; verily, it is the party of Allah that is victorious. [Holy Quran 58:22]

Quiz Question 8: The verse praises greatly the believers and says that amongst them no one will be found who bears affinities and friendships to kafirs, even if they are their fathers, brothers or clansmen. People do not bear affinities and friendships with those they honor and dignify – true or false?

Translation of meaning: Muhammad [sal Allahu ‘alaihi wa sallam] is the Messenger of Allah; those who are with him, are harsh against the kuffaar and compassionate amongst themselves… [Holy Quran 48:29]

Quiz Question 9: Harshness to kuffaar is praised as a quality of those who are with the Messenger of Allah, while it is categorically stated that they are merciful and compassionate amongst themselves. People are compassionate and merciful to those they do not honor and are harsh to those they do honor – true or false?

Translation of meaning: Indeed those who disbelieve [in Allah and His Messenger], from the people of the book, and the polytheists/pagans, they shall be in the fire of hell, therein to abide for ever; they are the worst of creation. [Holy Quran 98:6]

Quiz Question 10: Is the title ‘THE worst of all creation’ bestowing honor or dishonor?

Translation of meaning: Verily, the vilest of beasts in front of Allah are the people who commit kufr, for they do not believe. [Holy Quran 8:55]

Quiz Question 11: Is calling the kafirs the vilest of beasts, honor or dishonor?

This is regarding the jews. They deliberately deny the prophethood of our Master Rasulullah.

Translation of meaning: The similitude of the people who were given the Torah and then they didn’t follow it, is to that of a donkey carrying books; what a disgraceful similitude there is for those who deny the signs of Allah; and Allah does not guide a transgressing people. [Holy Quran 62:5]

In this verse, people who do not believe, are equated to cattle, nay even worse:

Translation of meaning: Indeed, we have made for hell many jinn and humans; they have hearts with which they understand not, and they have eyes with which they see not, and they have ears with which they hear not; they are like cattle, nay, further misguided, they are heedless. [Holy Quran 7:179]

Translation of meaning: Who is a greater transgressor than the one who lies against Allah, and belies the truth when it comes to him; is not hellfire the abode of kafirs? [Holy Quran 39:32]

Translation of meaning: These people of ours have taken false gods other than Him [Allah]; why do they not bring forward an authoritative evidence justifying their acts; who then is a greater transgressor than the one who forges lies against Allah? [Holy Quran 18:15]

Translation of meaning: Who then is a greater transgressor than the one who forges a lie against Allah, or belies His signs? Indeed, criminals shall not attain victory. [Holy Quran 10:17]

Quiz Question 12: What is someone who lies against Allah called? ‘Criminal’ is an honorable status – true or false? Why does the Quran call these people ‘criminals’? (Hint: It is on account of their beliefs.)

Translation of meaning: Or do they say that Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and their sons were jews or christians? Say: Do you have more knowledge or Allah? And who is a greater transgressor than the one who conceals a testimony he has from Allah; and Allah is not unaware of that [mischief] you do. [Holy Quran 2:140]

(This above verse is in regards to the jews and christians, the ahl al-kitab.)

Translation of meaning: And who is a greater transgressor than the one who forges a lie against Allah, or belies His signs? Indeed, the transgressors shall not attain victory.[Holy Quran 6:21]

Translation of meaning: And who is a greater transgressor than the one who forges lies against Allah! They shall be presented in their Lord’s court and the witnesses shall say, “These are the ones who lied against their Lord”; verily, Allah’s curse is on the transgressors. [Holy Quran 11:18]

Quiz Question 13: If “all” humas are honored by Allah, on whom is the curse of Allah? As we have already shown from the verses mentioned above, who are the greatest transgressors in front of Allah?

Translation of meaning: And who is a greater transgressor than the one who forges a lie against Allah, even as he is being called to Islam! And Allah does not guide a transgressing people. [Holy Quran 61:7]

Quiz Question 14: Being called to Islam and tieing a lie against Allah thereby becoming the greatest transgressors are mentioned in opposition to each other in this verse. What does this establish a clear evidence for? (Hint: The ‘transgressors’ and ‘criminals’ mentioned in other similar verses refer to kafirs)

Translation of meaning: … Allah’s curse then is on the kafirs. [Holy Quran 2:89]

Quiz Question 15: Is Allah’s curse on kafirs a sign of Allah honoring them “regardless of their different religious beliefs”?

“The Quran also says in verse 49:13 “O humanity! We have created you all from a male and female, and We have made you into nations and tribes so that you may come to know one another…” Then, we know that our differences in religious beliefs, are only just a launchpad from which we, as brothers and sisters in humanity, can launch dialogue and communication so that we know one another.”

Here is the verse in full:

Translation of meaning: O mankind! We created you from a male and a female and made you nations and tribes so that you recognize one another; indeed, the most honored of you in front of Allah, is the one with the most taqwa; verily Allah has complete knowledge and is all aware. [Holy Quran 49:13]

Quiz Question 16: Can there be taqwa without Islam? (Hint: The Quran always mentions ‘iman’ or belief before mentioning good deeds, and the Quran also says that the worship and the good deeds of kafirs are pure waste.)

The syncretist kafir is trivializing on the differences between Islam and kufr by using the words “only just”.

Are the differences between Islam and kufr trivial? Are the differences between invoking Allah’s ghadzab and invoking His ridza trivial? Are the differences between paradise and hellfire trivial?

Coming towards the ‘dialogue and communication’ –

What EXACTLY is the aim of this ‘dialogue and communication’?

IF it is us calling them to Islam, calling them to believe in The One & Only God of the universe, who is The God of Abraham and Moses, ‘ala nabiyyina wa ‘alaihimus salam, to accept His final Messenger and revelation (Quran) – as the last & final Messenger who brought the exact same message as that brought by the messengers and prophets before him, and he is their brother in prophethood – then ALHAMDULILLAH.

But if it is for us to ‘know one another’ as the author implies, then we need to ask:

What is the purpose of ‘knowing one another’?

Again, if it is for the purpose of inviting them to the pure and pristine beliefs of Islam, then alhamdulillah.

If however, it is just for the sake of knowing them, then the Quran and hadiith command us NOT to bear affinities and friendships with the kuffaar.

I have no idea regarding the author’s implications pertaining to his mention of ‘knowing one another’ as stated in the last line but given the context of his entire article and his disgraceful blunders stating that Allah ‘honors all humans, regardless of their different religious beliefs’, I leave the matter to the reader’s good judgment.

The Quran’s message to such ‘scholars’ is clear:

Translation of meaning: Will we treat Muslims the same as criminals? What’s wrong with you, [and] how do you rule? Or do you have a book in which you read – that which suits your whims? [Holy Quran 68:35-38]

Quiz Question 17: What does juxtaposing Muslims against criminals indicate? (Hint: kafirs are the greatest of all criminals in front of Allah. The lowest Muslim is better than the noblest of all kafirs in front of Allah.)

May Allah uplift Islam and Muslims and may he destroy kufr and those who seek to uplift it and honor and dignify it.

And Allah alone grants success.

Was-salam.
