How hypocrites play with Allah’s words and try to hurt Islam

15 Aug

As-Salamu ‘Alaikum

I was going through an essay written by a hypocrite kafir syncretist who claims to be a Muslim scholar, may Allah cleanse the earth of him and may the earth never see him for another Ramadzan, and just stumbled upon something very subtle, YET an EXTREMELY cleverly concocted fallacy to suit his syncretist agenda.

This hypocrite who pretends to be a Muslim scholar, has translated the starting phrase of following verse of the Quran [22:17]:

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَالَّذِينَ هَادُوا وَالصَّابِئِينَ وَالنَّصَارَىٰ وَالْمَجُوسَ وَالَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ

to: [hypocrite’s translation]: … The Muslims, the jews, the sabians  [Holy Quran 22:17]

while this is the REAL TRANSLATION: Indeed, the BELIEVERS, the jews, the sabians, the christians, the magians, and the idol-worshipers, Allah will judge between them on the day of resurrection. Indeed Allah is the witness over everything. [Holy Quran 22:17]

Any BEGINNER student of Arabic and/or the Quran knows that the Arabic words (الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا) “al-ladheena aamanoo” translate to “the people who believe” or “those who believe” or “BELIEVERS“.

Now of course, the “believers” in Allah and His Messenger are Muslims. So, to an ordinary Muslim, this would hardly be a point of contention, if this mistranslation was left standing on its own.

HOWEVER, here’s the catch:

The hypocrite has done this very subtle but EXTREMELY DELIBERATE & CALCULATED mistranslation in an essay he has written for the purpose of equating Islam with buddhism. There is a VERY BIG REASON for this mistranslation.

The theme of the syncretist hypocrite’s essay is to sing praises of buddhism and somehow portray this ugly, filthy non-religion as something that is equally as beautiful and pure as Islam, suggest that buddhists too are ahl al-kitab since he believes that ahl al-kitab are a saved people and “believers” in Allah, to suggest that buddha was a prophet sent to an earlier people, and to discourage Muslims from calling jews, christians, sabians, magians, buddhists etc. as polytheists or DISbelievers.

Subhan Allah. The wrath of Allah falls on this kafir’s face right from the verse itself.

The very verse he has quoted SEPARATES “BELIEVERS” from jews, sabians, christians, magians, and polytheists. In other words NONE of the latter 5 groups of people are called as BELIEVERS in Allah & His Messenger ﷺ by the Quran.

Of course the very purpose of the hypocrite’s essay would have fallen flat on its face had he translated the verse accurately. Therefore, he had no choice but to mistranslateal-ladheena aamanoo to Muslims because now the juxtaposition would be on equal footing, and this is exactly what the kafir was seeking to do. It’s ALL names of religions: Muslims, jews, sabians, christians, magians and polytheism.

The verse IN ITS ORIGINALITY juxtaposes BELIEVERS against all these other 5 groups of people, with the in-your-face implication that NONE of these other 5 groups of people are “BELIEVERS.This is the aim of juxtaposition, to place two different items side by side to compare and contrast them in relation to each other.

It hurts this hypocrite greatly and embarrasses him greatly in front of his kafir brothers and sisters when Muslims call his kafir brothers and sisters as DISbelievers (i.e., kafir) in Allah and those whom Allah has promised everlasting damnation in hellfire in the hereafter. His essay touches on this perverted point of his too by stating that it is not allowed for Muslims to state who will be damned to everlasting hellfire and who won’t and by calling christians, jews and sabians as “saved groups”, being the master misinformer and enemy of Islam he is. Needless to say, it is Allah Who has sent down His book and it is He Who will protect it. For as long as the Quran stays with Muslims, we WILL repeat what Allah has said in the Quran in many many places: that ANYONE who doesn’t believe in the prophethood of our Master Rasulullah ﷺ as Allah’s last and final messenger, despite having heard of him, is a DISbeliever and such a person is damned to everlasting hellfire in the Quran, left, right, and center.

May Allah curse & destroy this hypocrite and cease his fitnah and cause innocent Muslims not to fall in his trap. Aameen.

Muslims should beware of this hypocrite who claims to be Sunni and Ash’ari and a follower of the ways of the Sufis. He is nothing but a cursed enemy of Allah, His Messenger ﷺ, Islam and Muslims.

إِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ فِي الدَّرْكِ الْأَسْفَلِ مِنَ النَّارِ وَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُمْ نَصِيرًا

Translation of meaning: Indeed, the hypocrites* will be in the lowest pits of hellfire, and you shall find no one as their helper. [Holy Quran 4:145]

* hypocrites in religion, that is, those who are kafirs on the inside and who are loyal to their kufr and kafir brothers and sisters but pretend to be Muslims on the outside, mocking Islam and deceiving Muslims.

The Prophet , when he was informed of who were the munaafiqiin around him, insulted them and kicked them out of his blessed mosque using words as such:

قم يا فلان فاخرج ، فإنك منافق ، اخرج يا فلان ، فإنك منافق

Stand up o [name] and get out, for you are a hypocrite; get out o [name], for you are a hypocrite…

A note regarding the meaning of the verse 22:17:

Although the christians, jews, sabians, and magians too are “mushrikiin” (polytheists), they are mentioned distinctly to the rest of the mushrikiin (polytheists/pagans) in the Quran for many reasons stated on multiple posts on this blog (jizyah rules, eating jews’ and christians’ slaughter and marriage to their dhimmi women and honoring their books in their true form which are indeed from Allah, and so on) and the word mushrik when used distinctly against jews and christians, is meant to refer to proper idol-worshipers like the hindus. Furthermore, the meaning of the verse is NONE OTHER THAN the fact that on the day of judgment Allah will send the BELIEVERS, which the hypocrite has rightly mistranslated to “Muslims” BUT with the ugliest of intentions, to paradise and the kafirs to hellfire.

In sha Allah we shall also see the various tafsiir’s of this verse, if He permits us, in due time.

And Allah alone grants success.

      Dear Brother,

On this blog, I am only focusing on quoting classical scholars from the early era as well as some acknowledged and celebrated scholars of the latter era, like Imam Rabbani, Ibn ‘Abidin Shami, and others rahimahumullah.

I do not in any way comment on the shaykh that you have mentioned. I do not know about him and your comment is the first I have heard of this shaykh. So I must have and I do have nothing but a good opinion of him.

However, I do not permit the mention of contemporary shuyukh on this site, as then some of the other people will also start mentioning contemporaries. Indeed MANY contemporaries are excellent shuyukh, and indeed quite a few of the contemporaries are also swine in the skins of lamb who will say one right thing and then poison people’s faiths on another matter. Again, I have never heard of the contemporary shaykh you mentioned and as a Muslim it is my duty to have a good opinion of him, specially when I do not know him.

So to avoid the hassles, I do not mention any contemporaries at all, for the purpose of this blog.

I hope you understand. However, your tip is well noted and I shall indeed try to benefit from the links you gave. You are welcome to bring in quotes from classical scholars’ sources. Jazak Allahu khayraa.

    As-Salaamu ‘alaykum brother/sister,

I shall begin with four ahadith from the RasulAllah (s.a.w.):

    1) “Those who indulge in curses will not be intercessors or witnesses on the Day of Resurrection.”
    Sahih Muslim 2595

    2) “Whoever (intentionally) ascribes to me what I have not said then (surely) let him occupy his seat in Hell-fire.”
    Sahih Bukhari 3:109

    3) “He who says to his brother ‘O disbeliever’, then it returns upon one of them.”
Bukhari, Muslim, Malik, at-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud

    4) “And he who accuses a believer of kufr (disbelief) then it is like killing him.”

Now, you said that when RasulAllah (s.a.w.) was informed about the hypocrites around him, that he (s.a.w.) said: “Stand up o [name] and get out, for you are a hypocrite; get out o [name], for you are a hypocrite…”.

Can you give me your sources of this hadith?
