The Ahlus Sunnah’s simple maxim refuting the hypocrites

وقال أهل السنة والجماعة: الكافر إذا أسلم كان كافراً إلى وقت إسلامه، وإنما صار مسلماً بإسلامه إلا أنه غفر له ما قد سلف. والمسلم إذا كفر كان مسلماً إلى ذلك الوقت، إلا أنه حبط عمله

And the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah have said: A kafir, if he becomes Muslim, was a kafir until the time of his acceptance of Islam, and indeed he became a Muslim due to his Islam, so much that all that he did in the past is forgiven to him; and a Muslim, if he disbelieves, was a Muslim only until such time, having destroyed all his past deeds [due to his committing kufr].

Bahr-ul-‘Uloom of Imam Abul Layth Al-Samarqandi (d. 373 Hijri), under the tafsiir of verse 2:34

The munaafiqiin love to sow doubts in the hearts of Muslims by preventing them from calling the christians, jews, buddhists, and others outside of Islam as kafirs. It hurts these filthy munaafiqiin greatly when Muslims refute the filthy idiotic religions and doctrines of their kafir brothers and sisters, like the filthy doctrine of trinity, and it hurts them greatly when Muslims tell their kafir brothers and sisters of Allah’s punishment upon them should they leave the world as kafirs.

The Muslims’ maxim is very simple – as soon as someone becomes a Muslim, he/she is our esteemed brother/sister.

The zanaadiq cause confusion by trying to talk about “Allah’s judgment” upon a person; that perhaps he will die a Muslim in the future, or that perhaps he accepted Islam just before he met the Angel of Death and no one witnessed him pronouncing the shahadah, and so in Allah’s judgment his state is not kafir, etc.

Try this test with such people. When ever they talk to you in this manner, tell them: “We also do not know Allah’s judgement upon YOU. So we restrain from calling you Muslim and treating you like our brother. Maybe you will become a defiant kafir and a sworn enemy of Islam just before you witness the Angel of Death, and in reality you’re a damned hypocrite and an infidel in Allah’s judgment who is headed for a never ending session of having his goatee peeled off and his head bludgeoned in the lowest pits of hellfire.”

Our job in this world is not to guess upon “what could have been” or “what may be in the future”, much less speculating on what Allah’s judgement is. We are only commanded to act upon the apparent in real time in light of the Shari’ah.

And success isn’t but by Allah’s granting.

    In this era which groups fall in the category of Zindeeq? I know it includes Quranists , Qadiyani/mirzae, some shia, right? But apart from these who are zanadeeq?

      qadiyani/mirzae who also call themselves “ahmadia” are open apostates.

      A zindiiq is someone who claims Islam on the outside, but on the inside he has beliefs of absolute kufr. In the Shari’ah his status is the same as that of a munaafiq in religion, that is, a person who shows Islam, but keeps kufr in his heart.

      Not some, but rather A LOT or MOST of the shia are zindiiq, specially the ithna-‘ashari sect. Their other extremist zindeeq sect, the isma’iiliy is a sect of absolute zandaqah and apostasy. One of their biggest propagators of apostasy and kufr is the zindiiq reza shah kazemi, and other stooges of the ‘prince’ agha khan.

      Also zindiiq are those sufis who claim to be followers of tasawwuf but they hold kufr beliefs like ‘people outside Islam will attain salvation in the hereafter’, ‘buddhists are a saved nation in the hereafter’, ‘christians and jews are not kafirs and saved in the hereafter’ and so on. (Even the isma’iiliy’s will say anything to please the christians and jews.)

      These groups of kafir sufis are extremely sleazy and they try to play with words. When you talk to them about christians and jews and you present them evidence, they say they implied the REAL ummah’s of our Master Muusa and ‘Eisa, ‘alaihimus salam, and not the christians and jews of today who have heard of our Master Muhammad ﷺ. When you talk to them about ‘people outside of Islam being saved’, they say they are talking about the unaccountable people like the physical and mental handicaps and those not touched by da’wah of Islam.

      The perennialists are the basest zanaadiq of our times that Sunni Muslims need to recognize. These people believe that all religions contain the truth and lead to Allah. Their head teachers and/or closest associates are people like frithjof schuon, rene guenon, martin lings, hossein nasr, and other such people in their satanic school of thought. Some perennialists deny that they are perennialists but rather that they are “Sunni Muslims” – and yet they gleefully co-author books with them, they invite them to their forums, and they propagate their teachings. These people are kafirs and enemies of Islam causing greater harm than people like satan rushdie and geert wilders.

      As a quick rule of thumb, in these times any slave of the christians and jews who addresses their pope or other religious heads as “his holiness”, “his beatitude” etc. or who claims that christianity and judaism are good (i.e., now, in their corrupt and tampered forms and after the arrival of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, not the TRUE messages of Jesus and Moses in their pure form), or who claims that christians and jews after the arrival of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ shall attain salvation – such a person is a zindeeq and an apostate and an enemy of Allah, His Messengers, Islam and Muslims (regardless whether he claims perennialism or not).

      Such a person is NOT a Muslim, but rather a dajjal and a satanist-kafir, regardless of how many books he has supposedly authored, or how much he prays or how long his beard is, or if he wears a jubba and a turban, etc. Sadly such satanists are growing everyday in these times, both the ‘teachers’ and their ‘students’. These people are the group of the dajjal.

    Dear brother,

    Would we not say the maxim is that we do not pronounce either Jahannam or Janah on any person who dies, even though it may be obvious to our eyes that he dies either as a Kaafir or a Muslim?

      No. What you say is riddled with many fundamental flaws.

      1 – Saying someone died as a Muslim is a VERY UNAMBIGUOUS albeit implicit way of saying his final destination is Jannah and everlasting stay therein. Saying someone died a kafir is a VERY UNAMBIGUOUS albeit implicit way of saying his final destination is Jahannam and everlasting stay therein.

      2 – In regards to ‘obvious to our eyes’ and ‘we are not absolutely sure because only Allah knows his reality’ – our job is to act only on what is obvious to us. We do not withhold from OUR judgments or actions based on the Shari’ah because we do not know what Allah knows.

      We have been COMMANDED to act on what is apparent to us, in light of the Shari’ah, and that’s it – and leave the rest to Allah.

      It’s a no brainer that we do not know what Allah knows. This fact is as manifest as sunshine. It’s a basic article of creed in theology, not a “subtle point”. The only reason people talk about it as a “subtle point” is to spin doctor and introduce doubts to unsuspecting people regarding the matter being talked about. See this post –

      Of course if ALL the world calls a person a kafir, and Allah knows his reality as a Muslim, all the creation will not be able to change the outcome Allah has destined for this person. The same is also true if the opposite is the case. Allah’s Will is not contingent to what His creation say or do.

      3 – Your saying ‘we are not absolutely sure what a person died on’ also introduces a whole host of problems
      – do we keep him and perform the last rights according to Islam, or hand him over to the kuffar and let them perform his last rites?
      – which kuffar do we hand him over to – the jews, or the buddhists, or the christians, etc?
      – do we bury him in a Muslim graveyard or a kafir one?
      – do we say “Rahmatullahi ‘alaih” after his name? (It is forbidden to invoke Allah’s Mercy on a person we know died as a kafir, according to ALL FOUR madhhabs of Islam)

      3a – The MOST dangerous thing that such a saying begets is doubts on a basic creedal matter EXPLICITLY stated in the Quran and hadith. Such a statement can cause people to doubt if the kuffar will be punished everlastingly in the hellfire, and there are many such people in these times. Doubting the verses of the Quran is apostasy from Islam, and the verses in regards to punishment and reward are very explicit and unambiguous.

      4 – The Prophet ﷺ and his blessed companions are our masters and we have to follow their example. Our elders HAVE PRONOUNCED Jannah or Jahannam on people based on “what was obvious to their eyes”. Our Master ‘Umar told the kuffar during the Battle of Badr:

      لا يستوي القتلى قتلانا في الجنة وقتلاكم في النار
      The dead are not equal, our dead are in Jannah and your dead are in the Fire.

      5 – There is a popular saying in Arabic

      إنما يعرف الشيء بضده
      Indeed, a thing can be known by its opposite.

      You mention the case of the kuffar and say that we are not absolutely sure what their reality is in front of Allah.

      Let us look at the opposite of the case too, the Muslims. So when Muslims die, do we say the same thing (‘we’re not absolutely sure of their reality’)?

      And if yes, and we doubt the state of their death – then what do we do in regards to them in terms of last rites, burial, praying for their forgiveness and so on??????????????

      Please try to see with reason AND ALSO note the circumstances of the world we live in. The elders of the ummah have said that a scholar who isn’t aware of the circumstances he lives in, is an ignoramus. In these times, we have scores of people doubting if christians and jews are kafirs, we have scores of people peddling the line of the munaafiqeen that kafirs shall attain the intercession of The Prophet ﷺ and be saved, scores of people lying against the Quran and saying that people outside of Islam can be saved in the hereafter.

      Again, it’s a no-brainer that “Allah knows best” – but His Prophet has been COMMANDED HIMSELF AND ALSO COMMANDED US to act on “what is obvious to our eyes”, and leave the rest to Allah. By this kind of over-the-top sophistry and pretense we will not become any holier!

      On the contrary these kind of statements are exactly what the munaafiqiin are using to plant doubts in people’s minds and pull Islam out of their hearts!

      6 – Did you ever stop and think why many so-called scholars rushed to say “Allah knows his state best” in regards to nelson mandela’s death and not in regards to ariel sharon’s death? It was only an exercise in plastic piety to wax sympathetic at the death of mandela, because of his popularity with the masses. The same exercise was not repeated in regards to sharon, because of his unpopularity with the Muslims. Creedally speaking “Allah knows his state best” applies to sharon or mandela or me or you or anyone else.

      A person is a Muslim or a kafir (and therefore headed to Jannah or Jahannam) based on BELIEF IN THE HEART & DECLARATION OF FAITH BY THE TONGUE and that’s it.

      This is why BOTH the Prophet’s uncles – abu jahl and abu talib were kafirs.

      abu jahl was exceedingly debaucherous, conniving and bigoted in his actions and he was a kafir.

      abu talib, while he was benign and respectful towards the Prophet ﷺ in many many actions, and only an idiot would say that abu talib was debaucherous, conniving and bigoted like abu jahl- he was still a kafir at the end of the day for not accepting Allah’s Tawhiid and His Prophet ﷺ.

      Hope that makes sense to you.



      Did teresa the nun die a kafir? Yes. In fact, she was a filthy missionary of the ugly kufr of trinity.
      Is she in hellfire? You bet!

      Did rachel corie die a kafir? Yes.
      Is she in hellfire? Yes indeed.
      Can we add a “RahmatuLlahi ‘alaiha” after her name? NO WAY. It is kufr and apostasy from Islam.

      Did pope john paul die a kafir? Yes. He was also an ugly missionary of the evil of trinity.
      Is he in hellfire? You bet!

      Did nelson mandela die a kafir? Yes.
      Is he in hellfire? You bet!

      Did ariel sharon die a kafir? Yes.
      Is he in the fire? No doubt!


      The effects of a poison can only be removed by its antidote. The munaafiqiin are working hard in shaytan’s cause by inducing doubts. We will destroy their hard work in shaytan’s cause by inducing certainty!

      Again – “Allah knows their state best” is not a ‘subtle point’ but rather a creedal matter as manifest as sunshine.

        BUT Allah & His Messenger have also COMMANDED us to act on the apparent, or as you put it ‘what is visible to our eyes’.

    Salam Alaykum,

    Well, I do not doubt that we deal with people based on the apparent state in which they have died. It definitely is problematic if people are left with the impression that dying upon something other than Islam is acceptable.

    The only thing is whether one is claiming that his judgment concerning the final place of a specific person is concomitant with Allah’s Knowledge. In some cases we do have certain knowledge about this due to indisputable Nass, but for most people this is simply not the case.

    Again, this is not something to cast doubt that people must die on Islam and dying on anything else is invalid, but only that we cannot say what a particular scholar meant when he said: “I do not know what the resting place of so-and-so is”. We may feel like saying it is a type of perrenialist thinking, but it may be something else for which an excuse may be found. That is all I am alluding to.

    If you think it is an improper way of phrasing this, then I suppose we are approaching the issue in different ways; even so, I do understand the importance of emphasizing that dying upon anythng other than Islam is conducive to the Hellfire.

      No one claims that their statement is concomitant with Allah’s Knowledge, unless and until they are merely repeating exactly what He, Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, has Himself said in His Book, or what His Beloved Messenger ﷺ informed us of.

      When we say something about someone, we are speaking based on our observation as humans – as we have been COMMANDED to do.

      The Quran says that believers should not pray for their disbeliever relatives after it has been made known to them that they are dwellers of hellfire.

      According to Tafsiir Jalalayn, in tafsiir of verse 9:113, this ‘being made known to be dwellers of hellfire’ is due to a person’s dying a kafir. See below:

      وَنَزَلَ فِي اسْتِغْفَاره صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لعمه أبي طالب واستغفار بَعْض الصَّحَابَة لِأَبَوَيْهِ الْمُشْرِكَيْنِ {مَا كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ وَاَلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنْ يَسْتَغْفِرُوا لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَلَوْ كَانُوا أولي قربى} ذوي قرابة {مِنْ بَعْد مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَاب الْجَحِيم} النَّار بِأَنْ مَاتُوا عَلَى الْكُفْر

      This proves that we simply can’t make obscure statements that express doubt in regards to the everlasting punishment of kafirs that the Quran promises.


      When Sunni scholars made certain statements in academia, it is ALWAYS qualified by the subjective academic context be it in writing or speech – and such comments are NOT left to stand alone or fly without the proper context, which is the case with the perennialist munaafiqiin of our times.

      As an example, recently I have seen a fraud from Toronto spreading misguidance across borders, who has been shamelessly circulating abject zandaqah and attributing it to Imam Abu Hanifa. The rabid fraud is circulating a false story, WITHOUT A REFERENCE OF COURSE, similar to the kinds of things you are talking about, all based on hearsay, and has been corrupting the faiths of Muslims – only because poor common people will simply not muster the courage to ask this fraud for a reference or even if they do, they won’t be in a position to evaluate any ‘evidence’ provided by the fraud – and yet these filthy hypocrite shayatiin claim to offer seekers guidance. They claim to offer seekers guidance, yet they have forgotten that they shall die one day and need to answer a few hard questions. La’anahumu(A)llah.

      This is why the obscure statements of the zindiiq sufis and perennialists have no place in Islam – statements like “only Allah knows his state” and “I don’t know his final resting place” and so on. It is clear that the munaafiqiin make these statements only to plant doubts about the punishment awaiting their kafir brothers and sisters and they do not wish to upset their kafir masters by not praying for their dead.

      Muslims are big time adherents of certainty and conclusivity while the munaafiqiin are the opposite.
