RasulAllah’s ﷺ instructions to our master Salman Al-Farsiy (radzi Allahu ‘anhu) – There is no good in christians, or christianity, or those who love them

20 Dec

As-Salamu ‘Alaikum

‘Tis the season again, when hypocrites and heretics crawl out of the woodwork. Muslims who value their faith please note the following ahadiith:

Translation of meaning: Reported on the authority of Salman Al-Farsiy, he said: I came to RasulAllah ﷺ with a bowl of bread and meat. He [ﷺ] said, “What is this, o Salman?” I said: Charity [Sadaqah]. So he [ﷺ] did not eat it, and said to his companions, “Eat”. Then I came to him [ﷺ] with a bowl of bread and meat; and he [ﷺ] said, “What is this, o Salman?” I said, “Gift”, and he [ﷺ] ate and said, “We eat gifts [gifted food] and we do not eat charity [food given in charity].”[1] He [Salman] said: I said, “O RasulAllah [], what do you say about the christians?”. He [RasulAllah ] said, “O Salman, there is no good in the christians nor in those who love them (are fond of them / bear affinities to them) [RasulAllah said it thrice] except the one[s] upon the like of your companion’s religion.” He [Salman] said: And I knew that my companion was upon the [true] religion of ‘Eisa [‘alaihis salam]; meaning the priest who accompanied Salman.[2]

Translation of meaning: It is reported on the authority of Salman [al-Farsiy] radzi Allahu ‘anhu regarding his Islam, he said: When the Prophet came to Madinah, I made food and went [to him] with it. The Prophet said, “What is this, o Salman?”. I said, “Charity [Sadaqah]”. Then he [] said to his companions, “Eat” and he [] did not eat. Then I went back until I [again] made food and went to him [] with it and he [] said, “What is this, o Salman?”. I said “Gift”, and he [] broke it with his hand and ate and said to his companions, “Eat”. I [Salman] said: O RasulAllah, inform me about the christians?. He said, “There is neither any good in them nor in those who love them.” Then I [Salman] got up anxious, and Allah ‘Azza wa Jall sent the verse {Indeed, you shall find the jews and the idolators as the staunchest in enmity to the believers [i.e., Muslims]} until {spilling over with tears [5:82-83]} So I [Salman] headed to RasulAllah and he said to me, “O Salman, Indeed your companions are the ones Allah has mentioned [in the verse].”[2]

[1] – The narrations of our master Salman Al-Farsiy’s conversion to Islam and RasulAllah’s ﷺ affection and fondness for him are simply enlightening, marvelous, motivating, inspiring and heart warming. Although there are varying reports on our master Salman Al-Farsiy’s pre-Islamic biography, all of them invariably point out to the same conversion scenario, namely – before becoming Muslim [i.e., accepting the prophethood of our Master RasulAllah ﷺ], he spent time with the TRUE followers of Sayyidina ‘Eisa ‘alaihis salam who accepted Allah’s Tawhiid and our Master ‘Eisa as Allah’s created slave and prophet, and that they were well-aware of the signs of the last Prophet, our Master RasulAllah ﷺ, and that they taught some of those signs to our master Salman Al-Farsiy. The signs mentioned to him by the pious, so-called “christians” priests (who were in reality Muslims believing in Tawhiid and the canon given to Sayyidina ‘Eisa ‘alaihis salam) were:

  • His name shall be Ahmad (the second most popular name of our Master RasulAllah ﷺ)
  • The last prophet of Allah shall NOT eat charity.
  • He shall accept gifts and eat them.
  • There shall be the seal of prophethood between his shoulder blades, about as big as a pigeon’s egg.

[2] – As stated, the “christians” that Salman Al-Farsiy radzi Allahu ‘anhu spent time with, were the TRUE followers of Sayyidina ‘Eisa ‘alaihis salam who adhered to Allah’s Tawhiid and the following of the canon given to our Master ‘Eisa.

They were akin to An-Najashi (Negus) of Habasha (Ethiopia) who adhered to Allah’s Tawhiid and accepting Sayyidina ‘Eisa as Allah’s created slave and prophet, and when he heard of Islam, he became Muslim. Those are the kind of people that verses 5:82 and 5:83 refer to – who followed the true teachings of prophet ‘Eisa ‘alaihis salam, and when our Master RasulAllah ﷺ arrived, they acknowledged and followed him.

This is why in the lengthy narration of Zayd bin Souhan, regarding Salman Al-Farsiy’s conversion to Islam, RasulAllah ﷺ is reported to have said to Salman Al-Farsiy:

Translation of meaning: Then I [Salman] said: O RasulAllah [], what do you say about the religion of the christians? He [] said, “There is neither any good in them nor in their religion.”

Translation of meaning: Then [Prophet Muhammad ﷺ] recited: {In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful. This is because they have priests and ascetics amongst them and they are not arrogant [5:82]} until the end of the verse [and said:] O Salman! The people you were with, and your companion, they were NOT christians. Indeed, they were Muslims!

(Two of RasulAllah’s ﷺ sayings mentioned in a lengthy narration regarding Salman Al-Farsiy’s conversion to Islam, regarding the “christian” people Salman Al-Farsiy spent time with before becoming Muslim.)

Al-Hakim’s Mustadrak

People should note that in RasulAllah’s ﷺ times, there were two kinds of “christians”

  • Those who followed the TRUE creed of Islam since the beginning of time, namely Allah’s Tawhiid, and without any arrogance accepted and acknowledged the prophet of Allah who was current until the time of arrival of our Master RasulAllah ﷺ, who is Sayyidina ‘Eisa ‘alaihis salam, and the TRUE canon he brought. Indeed such people were in reality MUSLIMS, as is stated in the lengthy narration of Imam Al-Hakim’s Mustadrak. Sayyidina ‘Eisa ‘alaihis salam’s teachings give more than ample signs and information about the last prophet of Allah to arrive after himself, our Master Muhammad ﷺ. They were to accept the last prophet, our Master RasulAllah ﷺ when he arrived. If they didn’t become Muslim upon hearing of RasulAllah ﷺ, they would have become kafirs, just like the jews became kafirs for not accepting our master ‘Eisa ‘alaihis salam when he arrived – since it is a requirement of Islam to accept ALL the prophets of Allah.
  • Those who adhered to the evil doctrine of trinity and corrupted the canon and the book given to Sayyidina ‘Eisa. They ALREADY were kafirs for their evil beliefs of trinity and other evil actions, and they only increased in their kufr, arrogance and debauchery after the arrival of our Master RasulAllah ﷺ by not accepting him and his prophethood. Such people have NEVER been praised or accepted in the Islamic tradition. Had they accepted him ﷺ, they would have automatically accepted ALL past prophets of Allah as well.

It is incumbent upon mankind and jinnkind to adhere to Allah’s Tawhiid and to accept ALL His Prophets, and our Master Muhammad ﷺ is the last and final prophet of Allah. Accepting him ﷺ is the acceptance of ALL past prophets of Allah, while we follow the canonical laws given to him ﷺ only.

If Allah grants respite, we shall post the translations of some of the narrations of the TRUE MUSLIM followers of Sayyidina ‘Eisa and their acceptance of RasulAllah’s ﷺ prophethood, in due time.

And success isn’t but by Allah’s granting.
