“Honest reportage” – an oxymoron.

03 Mar

As-Salamu ‘Alaikum

I wonder why the mainstream media needs to MASSIVELY downplay on something as irrelevant as numbers.

The incredibly laughable bbc (bastardized-news broadcasting corporation, perhaps!) said about a major news event:

Security was tight as a crowd of about 30,000 gathered to pay their last respects to Mumtaz Qadri in Rawalpindi.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-35693767 (emphasis mine)

The express tribune of the country of the incident itself, said:

RAWALPINDI: Tens of thousands of supporters turned out in Rawalpindi on Tuesday to attend the funeral of Mumtaz Qadri,

http://tribune.com.pk/story/1057465/mumtaz-qadri-laid-to-rest-amid-tight-security/

The guardian’s headline said

Thousands at funeral

while the story inside said:

An estimated crowd of more than 100,000 people have attended the funeral of Mumtaz Qadri,

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/mar/01/funeral-pakistani-mumtaz-qadri-executed-salmaan-taseer

Some of these papers hilariously publish a picture of the event, and yet, say things like this local paper says:

RAWALPINDI: Thousands of supporters of Mumtaz Qadri

You be the judge if the number of attendees looks like a couple of “thousands”or a mere 30,000 or 100,000. Most of these pictures are available all over the internet and social media, just 2 are shown below.

We pray to Allah to grant us honesty, decency, and integrity and not to let us become spineless, shameless, low-lives like the mainstream media.

Was’Salam.
